What is CMC?

The CMC (Certified Management Consultant) is an internationally recognized certificate, which provides proof of the consultant's professional knowledge and skills to the clients and the specialized institutions. This certificate acts a guarantee for the consultant's quality of services. It is also a proof for the successful execution of competence, experience and professional standards assessment of the professional management consultants.

The Certification Procedure

The certification procedure is designed by ICM London (Institute of Credit Management) in 1998 and is based on the so called “competence assessment” approach. On the ICMCI (International Council of Management Consulting Institutes) conference held in September 1999 in Amsterdam this model was adopted as basic and was recommended to all institutes. BAMCO was the first institute to adopt the model in 1998. Until the present moment BAMCO has certified 66 Bulgarian and 29 foreign management consultants.

To pass the certification procedure successfully a consultant should:

  1. accept the BAMCO membership requirements, which means to accept the Statute, the Internal By Laws and the Code of Ethics;
  2. meet the following minimum requirements: university education, at least 3 years management consulting experience in the last 5 years or 5 years managerial experience in the last 10 years;
  3. be able to prepare, present and defend sufficient, relevant and timely evidence for management consulting experience, ethics and competence.

The procedure requires:

1. The submission of the following documents (download application package):

  • filled in form and declaration for participation
  • detailed description of a case from the candidate's experience as a consultant
  • detailed CV
  • paper-based proof for the existence of:
    • management consulting experience, knowledge and competence
    • managerial expertise and/or managerial practice
    • specializations, degrees, qualifications and experience in a specific field
    • social/ technological/economic/political culture

2. Skilful presentation of the written case

3. Oral confirmation of the evidences quoted in the above mentioned documents during a dialogue with the appraiser

4. Detailed presentation of the candidate prepared by three referees confirming the management consultant's competence

The consultant who has successfully passed the certification procedure is accepted as a BAMCO member and becomes part of the family of international management consultants.

The CMC certificate should be defended and reconfirmed from the Training and Certification Committee every three years following a procedure similar to that of the certification.

Attention

The candidate should read this information carefully. If he should decide to apply he must fill in and send the forms included in this package along with a CV.

Following the Membership Committee preliminary assessment as regards meeting the minimal requirements, the candidate shall receive an offer to commence the certification procedure and should pay an instalment of 250 lv. This instalment does not guarantee you a certificate if you cannot fulfil the requirements during the assessment procedure. The sum is intended to cover the certification administrative expenses, including the professors' and the appraisers' fees.
